"What does your boyfriend think of your getting out of bed at night just to make me something to eat?"
I look at him, as if my cheating boyfriend is supposed to be bothered somehow by my role ad Nicky Salco's personal chef. "I didn't go into specifics about the role's requirements."

Can a player on the court be a keeper at home?

Elle's love language is food. But finding the right kind of work in her industry is difficult. After multiple different stints and temporary work, she lands her dream role: a personal chef to huge tennis star, Nicky Salco. It's just a bonus that he's handsome and athletic...but totally off limits.

The pressure is on, and not just in the kitchen. As Nicky trains for hours on the court for Wimbledon, Elle treads carefully around his brutally judgemental fiancée, while also trying to ignore her own boyfriend's cheating habits.

But the temperature rises when Nicky's training leads him to get hungry late at night and Elle is the one tasked with keeping his belly full. Despite being worlds apart, their late night rendezvous seem to lead to more than they intended.

REVIEW

I'M IN MY SPORT ROMANCE ERA!

Good afternoon readers, here I am back with a new review, a review and a very special one because I'm starting this review here on the blog today.

Love game pulled me right away because of the fact that it is a sports romance and as you may have guessed by now, since I read Icebreaker I have been completely obsessed with sports romance.

But let's talk about Love Game: this novel has as its main characters Elle, a young cook and Nicholas Salco, a very attractive professional tennis player.

Elle Caraway, is a young girl who has recently broken up with a cheating boyfriend who never held her in the proper regard and who is given a really interesting proposition: to become the personal chef of a world tennis star with Nicky. In spite of this unexpected and exciting job offer that would allow her to escape a difficult time in her life and reconnect from the beginning, she is very insecure and tends to close in on herself to avoid being hurt again.

Nicholas, our acclaimed and unattainable tennis player, initially disliked me precisely because he almost seems to want to take advantage of Elle's moment of weakness. Of course, the attraction between the two is undeniable and you can see it right from their first meeting, but while Elle's feelings slowly arise, Nicky can't seem to keep his hands off her.

Which really bothered me, I found it very insensitive on the part of a character who seemed to have so much potential. That's one of the reasons that made me think I would hate this book.

But fortunately I was wrong.

After a few chapters - and after meeting Nicky's insipid girlfriend, McEnzie - I began to sense that Nicholas's behavior was merely a facade, a way to protect himself from yet another disappointment in his life.

Two characters in search of themselves and their happiness who find themselves sharing their secrets night after night.

I find Emma Rae managed to strike the perfect balance between sweetness and irony.

A perfect summer sports romance to read under the umbrella that will give you lots of laughs and even a few surprises.
